CC was named the NJCAA Division II Tournament
MVP after leading the tourney in scoring (28.3
ppg) and rebounding (16.3 rpg). She also set
the record for total rebounds 65). Illinois
Centals Rachel Merriman set the single-game
assists record with 15, while Johnsoin County's
Becca Buan tied the record for most 3-point

CENTRAL CAPTURES 2006 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP:
Illinois Central CC built a 26-point
halftime advantage and cruised to a 71-54 victory
over Kirkwood CC to win the 2006 NJCAA DII National
Championship. Suzanne Bofia and Rachel Merriman
led ICC to the title and were named to the All-Tournament

a close game throughout, Kalamazoo Valley CC
edged Prince George's CC 63-60 to take fifth
place at the NJCAA DII National Tournament.
Kendra Kutz and Kortini Matteson led the Cougars

SEEDS TO MEET FOR NJCAA DII CHAMPIONSHIP:
#1 seed Illinois Central and #2 seed
Kirkwood will play each other on Saturday for
the chance to wear a National Championship ring.
Mott and CC of Rhode Island will play for third
place, Prince George's and Kalamazoo will meet
for fifth place and Bismarck State and Johnson
County will play in the consolation bracket
final.

DOMINATES TO MOVE INTO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:
Kirkwood CC advanced into the championship
game of the 2006 NJCAA DII National tourney
with a 69-32 victory over CC of Rhode Island.

Mott CC gave #1 seed Illinois Central
College all it could handle before the Cougars
pulled out an 82-80 victory to advance to the
Championship game of the 2005 NCAA DII Tournament.

SCORES COMEBACK WIN OVER CARL SANDBURG:
After trailing at halftime, Kalamazoo
Valley CC scored a 76-73 victory over Carl Sandburg
College to move into the fifth place game of
the 2006 NJCAA DII National Championships. Chelsea
Acker led three KCC players in double figures

GAME :
Prince George's CC scored a 78-73
overtime victory over #4 seed Chandler-Gilbert
to earn a spot in the 5th place game on Saturday.

MOVES INTO SEMIFINALS:
Kirkwood, the tourney's #2 seed,
defeated Kalamazoo Valley 56-46 to advance to
the semifinals of the 2006 NJCAA DII Championships.
The game was close through much of the contest
with the teams trading the lead eight times.
Missy Morow led three Kirkwood players in double

ISLAND SENDS #3 SEED INTO CONSOLATION BRACKET:
#3 seed Carl Sandburg College joined
the growing list of seeded teams in the consolation
bracket as the CC of Rhode Island advanced into
the semifinals with a 63-52 victory. Monet Johnson
led Rhode Island with 19 points and 11 rebounds
as nine Knights scored in the game. LaToya Wright
paced CSC with 15 points and 17 rebounds. |

Mott CC recorded its second victory
over a seeded program to move into the semifinals
with a 82-73 victory over #4 seed Chandler-Gilbert.
Candace Ward was nearly unstoppable as she led
the Bears with 35 points and nine rebounds.

Johnson County advanced in the consolation
bracket with a 92-77 victory over Mercyhurst
North East. Katy Davenport led the way to victory

STATE ELIMINATES KANKAKEE:
In the consolation bracket, Bismarck
State defeated Kankakee 72-63 to eliminate the
Cavaliers. Tracy Iochim led Bismarck State with
26 points and eight rebounds. Rachel Raymond
connected on 7-of-12 from the field for 16 points

OF RI CONTINUES TREND OF FALLING SEEDED TEAMS:
The Commuity College of Rhode Island
continued the trend of seeded teams falling
in the opening round of the 2006 NJCAA Division
II National Championships as it defeated #6
seed Johnson County 54-46. It was the third
time a seeded team has fallen in as many games
on day one. Tamara Shaw's 16 points paced CCRI
while teammate Monet Johnson added a double-double
